The Setup tab contains configuration and maintenance options that you will use occasionally rather than in every session. These features are grouped into three areas: database rebuilding, target configuration, and direct layout loading.

Rebuild
The Rebuild function regenerates the ICA or User Solutions database from the files on disk.
ICATS handles database maintenance automatically in most cases, so you should rarely need to trigger a rebuild manually. The one situation where a manual rebuild is needed is when you receive solution files from another user. After copying those files into the appropriate User Solution directories, use Rebuild → User Solutions to register them in the database and make them available through filtering.
Two rebuild buttons are provided:
- ICA Solutions — rebuilds the ICA Solutions database
- User Solutions — rebuilds the User Solutions database
Warning: Rebuilding replaces the current database index for the selected solution type. Only trigger a rebuild when you have a specific reason to do so, such as importing shared solution files.
Target Configuration
Targets are sized at 2×2 diamonds. By default, each target is square with 3 scoring rings (worth 1, 2, and 3 points) and one of 9 table positions.
The following settings can be adjusted in the Target Config section:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Rings | Number of scoring rings: 1, 2, or 3 |
| Max Score | Score value assigned to the center (innermost) ring |
| Decr. | Score decrement applied to each outer ring |
| Target Type | Shape of the target: Square or Circle |
| Num. Targets | Number of target positions: 9 or 21 |
Target positions are diagramed in Target Positions.
Load by Layout Number
Filtering is the standard method for selecting layouts, but you can also load a specific layout directly by number. Enter a value between 1 and 204 in the Enter Layout # field and click Load. The selected layout is displayed with Target position 1.
This is useful when you want to work on a specific object ball position you have identified as troublesome. See Object Ball to Layout Mapping for a diagram that maps object ball positions to their corresponding layout number ranges.
