ICATS EZUI Reference ManualPDF

Intro

Congratulations on your purchase of the ICA Training System, "Pro" or "EZ" product! With the included drills, availability of professionally developed content from ICA and notable pro players and 3rd party experts, you have an incredible tool to hone the strong points of your game and eliminate the weak points!

This purpose of this document is to describe the EZUI ("easy" User Interface), the easy-to-use phone interface for your ICATS. EZUI is the primary interface for the ICATS EZ product. EZUI is also a great way to interact with ICATS Pro, though Pro also extensively uses the keyboard, particularly for drill creation.

Initial Setup and Calibration of your ICATS

Setup, first time power-on, connecting to WiFi, and calibration of your ICATS is covered in the ICATS Setup Guide.

General EZUI Use

EZUI is a phone (or tablet, called "phone" hereafter) interface to your ICATS product. Having completed initial setup and with your ICATS and projector powered on, a QR Code will be displayed on the pool table surface. Simply scan the QR Code with the camera of your phone, click the link and the EZUI will appear! If the QR code is not readable (possibly due to the skew on an uncalibrated table), just type the URL address displayed under the QR code into your browser's address bar and the UI will start.

EZUI relies on two critical factors: 1) WiFi being functional (if WiFi is not working, EZUI will not work); 2) ICATS and phone connected to the same WiFi router. If either of these is not correct, EZUI will not work.

If EZUI is not functioning, the keyboard provided with your ICATS product can be used to operate the ICATS until your WiFi is restored. For ICATS EZ users, Appendix A describes keyboard operation. Pro users can refer to the ICATS User's Guide.

Powering On and Shutting Down your ICATS

Powering On

Typically, all that is needed to activate ICATS is to power on your projector with its remote control. The QR Code will be displayed, allowing you to scan, click the link, and launch the EZUI. If for some reason the QR Code is not displayed, press the ESC key on your keyboard to cause the QR Code to display. If your ICATS was Shutdown (powered off), first power on your projector, then apply power to the ICATS. Most ICATS will have a switch on the power cord. ICA cannot always acquire power supplies with switches, so your ICATS could require a separate switch, or the old-fashioned "unplug/re-plug". After a short delay, the QR Code will appear.

Shutting Down

Shutting down your ICATS is a two-step process:

  1. ICATS -- Using the "Settings" screen, press the "Power" button. It is recommended to put ICATS in "Standby" mode, which displays the QR Code. The ICATS uses very little power and Standby prepares ICATS for next use by displaying the QR Code. If it is desired to remove power from ICATS, it must be done correctly. While just "removing power" usually works, it can sometimes cause the SD Card in your ICATS to fail and hence is not recommended. To properly shut down your ICATS, select "Shutdown" from the Settings screen. After 30 seconds, power can be removed from the ICATS.

  2. Projector -- Having put the ICATS into Standby or Shutdown, use the remote control to turn off projector power. It is important to turn off the projector after each ICATS session, as it extends the lifetime of the projector bulb.
