Appendix A -- Using the Keyboard with ICATS EZ

The ICATS EZ is designed to be used with the phone as the primary UI device. However, there may be times when your WiFi and Internet is not functional, but you'd still like to use your ICATS EZ. The ICATS EZ menus and Shortcut Keys are fully described below.

The ICATS EZ uses a "Tabbed" menu, that should be familiar to any user of a computer system. The menu is activated by a Right-Click on an empty spot on the table. The three available Tabs are:

Table -- Perform "table" level operations (load/save, grid toggle, flip layout)
Settings -- Manage ICATS Settings
Quit -- Properly shuts down your ICATS

Each menu and menu function is described below:

Table

The Table menu provides several functions that affect the whole table, as described below:

Drill -- "Load" launches the File Manager, allowing Drills to be loaded.
Flip -- "Horz" and "Vert" flip all ICA drill elements horizontally, or vertically.

Settings

The Settings menu configures the operation of the ICATS program. Key settings are:

Projector Mount -- Left-Click the "triangles" to toggle between Side Mount and End Mount.
Table Size -- Left-Click the "triangles" to scroll through many options of table size. This setting ensures balls are of proper size.
Aiming Ball Style -- Set the Style of displayed ABalls between "X/Y" (X -- left/right, Y -- follow/draw) and "Clock" (O'Clock position and number of tips).
Calibrate -- Enter Calibration mode. Refer to the ICATS Setup Guide for details of calibration.
Update -- Left-Click the "Update" button to check for any available program or module updates.

Quit

Use the Quit menu when done using your ICATS EZ. The "Standby" option is recommended, which displays the QR Code in preparation for next use. Use the "Shutdown" option if you want to completely power down the ICATS. After selecting Shutdown, wait 30 seconds and power can be removed. The "To Pi" is rarely needed and is primarily for support purposes.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Very much like the EZUI Tools screen, a handful of Shortcut Keys are provided to manage the ICATS EZ. Of the many useful shortcut keys, perhaps the most important is ?, which will display a full list of shortcut keys available for your ICATS EZ.

Useful shortcut keys are defined in the tables below. For the most up-to-date listing of shortcut keys, remember the ? key, which will always display the most recent shortcut keys available.

Table Shortcuts

Table Shortcuts manage the major functions of ICATS, generally affecting the entire table in some way.

Key	Action
d	Display the current Drill Name.
h	Horizontally flip all ICA elements on the table.
v	Vertically flip all ICA elements on the table.
Up / Down Arrow	Up (Down) Arrow goes to next (previous) drill in this folder.
l	Launches the File Manager, to load Drills.
A	Toggle (on/off) the visibility of the ABall. Useful to "hide" the ABall for those that want to "figure it out themselves".

System Shortcuts

System functions are useful shortcuts mostly for maintenance operations on the ICATS.

Key	Action
U	Forces an update of the ICATS Program, and downloads new content. You may occasionally be asked by ICA to update using U, but under normal circumstances, using the menus Settings/Update is the preferred and faster method.
Q	Quit the ICATS program, displaying the Linux Desktop. To relaunch the ICATS program, Double-Left-Click on the "ICA Pool" icon.
b	Blank the projector, turning off display of all ICA elements. Pressing another key restores the display.
F	Add/Remove from the Favorites folder. If the drill was loaded from a folder other than Favorites, F will add that Drill to Favorites. If the drill was loaded from Favorites, pressing F will remove it from Favorites.
