Games & Challenges

Practice your skills. Have some fun.

ICATS includes games that put shot-making, position play, and cue-ball control into entertaining challenges. Some work well as individual tests; others make a practice session with friends more competitive.

An ICATS Bingo card, a five-by-five grid of numbers under the letters I, C, A, T, S, with four aces fanned across it
ICATS Bingo and Cards: where your cue ball lands decides the number you mark or the card you draw.

Why it matters

Practice does not always have to be a drill sheet. Each of these games still takes real pool skills to win: you have to pocket the ball and send the cue ball where you want it.

Several games can be handicapped, so players of different abilities can play each other and still have a fair contest.

How it works

  1. Load a game

Games are loaded on the table the same way as any other ICATS drill.

  2. Make the shot

Pocket the ball the game calls for.

  3. Let the cue ball decide

In many games, where the cue ball stops determines the result: a dart score, a bingo ball, a playing card, or yards gained or lost.

  4. Keep score and take turns

Play solo against your own best score, or take turns with friends.

A few favorites

  • Darts

Pocket your shot and land the cue ball on the projected dartboard. Play familiar dart games such as 301, 501, and Cricket.

  • ICA Golf

Nine holes each of a Novice course (par 3) and a full-length Intermediate/Advanced course. Limit the pockets you can use, such as corners only, for tougher pin positions.

  • ICATS Bingo

Pocket your shot and "draw" a bingo ball based on where the cue ball lands. The first player to get five in a row, column, or diagonal wins.

  • Sea Battle

A two-player game: sink your opponent's ships by knocking the ship balls out of their placement circles.

Games included in Games 1

  • 4t5: A nine-ball runout pattern scored by ball value, created courtesy of Vic Conte, with two harder variations that add blocker and point balls.
  • Darts: Pocket shots and leave the cue ball on a projected dartboard.
  • ICA Golf: Novice and Intermediate/Advanced nine-hole courses.
  • ICATS Bingo: Your cue-ball leave determines your bingo selections.
  • Kick Soccer: Kicking and safety challenges: score in your opponent's goal or defend your own.
  • Shuffle Pool: Shuffleboard-style cue-ball placement, including knocking your opponent's ball out of the way.
  • Cards: Pick cards from a projected grid of 54 by where the cue ball lands.
    • Basic instructions are included as a drill on your system.
  • Sea Battle: A two-player contest to sink each other's ships by moving the ship balls.
  • Football: A two-player football-style game: pocketing and cue-ball leave gain or lose yards, with touchdowns, turnovers, and safeties.
  • Targeted Position Play: A layout with seven targets for several game modes, including HORSE, Min Shots, and Personal Training.

Bonus: a 32-square numbered grid template lets you invent games of your own.
