The Preshot menu appears only for Pattern and Aiming drills. For all other drill categories, Stats moves directly to the Scoring menu. The Preshot menu collects context about how you intend to practice the drill, which Stats uses to generate more specific and useful statistics.

Pattern Drills
Pattern drills can be run in several different styles:
- Open — balls can be pocketed in any order
- 8-Ball — any order, except the 8-ball must be last
- 9-Ball — balls must be pocketed in numerical sequence, 9-ball last
The Preshot menu prompts you to select the style you intend to use. This selection determines how Stats interprets and records the results. Select the style, then click Done to proceed to the Scoring menu.
Aiming Drills
For Aiming drills, Stats can track how your pocketing accuracy varies depending on the speed and spin you apply. The Preshot menu displays a temporary Aiming Ball on the table and lets you set the intended speed and spin (follow/draw and English) for this practice run.

If you prefer to practice without varying speed or spin, just click Done without changing the Aiming Ball. This defaults to a center-ball hit at medium speed. Stats will still record full scoring data; the speed/spin selection simply adds another dimension for analysis through the Filters menu.
Tip: Using the Preshot menu to vary speed and spin across multiple practice runs is a productive way to use Aiming drills. Stats can then filter results by English or spin setting, revealing which combinations are giving you the most trouble.
