Once Stats is started, you navigate to drills using the same ICATS methods you are already familiar with. Nothing changes in how drills are loaded.
Loading Drills
Two methods are available:
- Open the Drill Load menu (or press Ctrl+L) to browse the drill directory and select a drill.
- Use the Up/Down arrow keys to step through drills in the current directory.
Note: If you are on the Results menu and the results table has a yellow border (indicating it is selected), press Tab first to deselect it before using the arrow keys to navigate drills.
You can shoot multiple drills within a single session. Use either method above whenever you are ready to move to a different drill.
Key Terminology
Three terms are used throughout the Scoring menu and results displays. Understanding them makes scoring faster and results easier to read.
Drill (or Layout)
A Drill is the overall table layout — all the ball positions, targets, and instructional elements that make up one exercise. A single drill may contain one or more Shots.
Shot
A Shot identifies a specific combination of one cue ball position, one object ball, and one target that the shooter must use. Stats calculates the total number of shots automatically by multiplying the number of distinct cue ball positions, object balls, and targets in the drill.
For example, a drill with 2 cue ball positions, 3 object balls, and 2 targets has 12 shots (2 × 3 × 2), representing every combination.
Not all elements are present in every drill category — the Scoring menu will show only the elements relevant to the current category.
Attempt
An Attempt is one actual stroke at a Shot. After each stroke, you record the outcome in the Scoring menu. You will typically make multiple Attempts at each Shot before Stats advances you to the next. The number of Attempts per Shot is set in the Setup menu and can range from 1 to 10.
