Stats assigns every drill to one of the following categories. The category determines what scoring fields are presented, what data is collected, and what results are available for analysis.
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Aiming | Ball pocketing from a variety of distances, cut angles, and pocket types (side and corner). Fundamental to all billiards play. |
| Banking | Bank shots with single and multi-rail variations. |
| Transition | Pocket the object ball and land the cue ball in a specific target zone. Combines aiming, speed control, and cue control — among the most demanding category types and critical for high-level play. |
| Breakdown | Pattern Breakdown drills are a sequential set of Transitions packaged as a runout scenario, with all the same challenges. |
| Kicking | Kick shots with single and multi-rail variations. |
| Safety | Hide the cue ball or a key object ball to leave the opponent a difficult or indirect shot. |
| Position | Practice leaving the cue ball in a specific position after pocketing the object ball. |
| Pattern | Run a sequence of balls attempting to clear the table. Playable in Open (any order), 8-Ball, 9-Ball, or 14.1 styles. |
| Cue Ctrl | Control the cue ball along a desired track using English, follow/draw, and carom angles off the object ball. Essential for proper leaves and for breaking out trouble balls. |
| Speed Ctrl | Calibrate cue ball striking speed against the speed scale used in ICA Aiming Ball indicators. |
