Shortcuts
The easiest way to use the ICATS is through "shortcut keys". All common ICATS functions are available with a single press of the keyboard. Of the many useful shortcut keys, perhaps the most important is ?, which will display a full list of shortcut keys available for your ICATS.
The most common and useful shortcut keys for day-to-day use are in the tables below. For the most up-to-date listing of shortcut keys, remember the ? key, which will always display the most recent and up-to-date shortcut keys available.
The ICA Menus are one good way to use the system. However, most ICATS functions are easily and quickly available through the shortcut keys and hence shortcuts are the preferred way of using the system and emphasized in this document. ICATS Menus are reviewed fully in Appendix A -- Menus.
Table Shortcuts
Table Shortcuts manage the major functions of ICATS, generally affecting the entire table in some way.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| d | Display the current Drill Name. |
| g | Toggle (on/off) the table Grid, a useful visual aid. |
| G | Toggle (on/off) the snap-to Grid. When "snap-to" is active, moving balls on the table will anchor them to specific grid positions. |
| C | Clear the table. |
| h | Horizontally flip all ICA elements on the table. Note: Table Images are not affected by flip -- use the menu Table/Image/Rotate to change orientation of a table image. |
| v | Vertically flip all ICA elements on the table. Note: Table Images are not affected by flip -- use the menu Table/Image/Rotate to change orientation of a table image. |
| Up / Down Arrow | Up (Down) Arrow goes to next (previous) drill in this folder. |
| l | Launches the File Manager, to load Drills. |
| s | Launches the File Manager, to save Drills. |
| D | Change the Text Direction of ICA elements, allowing readability from different orientations. |
| A | Toggle (on/off) the visibility of the ABall. Useful to "hide" the ABall for those that want to "figure it out themselves". |
| T | Launch the Target Practice add-on (note, this requires a separate purchase of ICA Target Practice). |
| S | Launch the Statistics add-on (note, this requires a separate purchase of ICA Statistics). |
Balls Shortcuts
Balls shortcuts manipulate balls, placing, removing and randomizing their location.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| r | Randomize the location of all balls currently on the table. |
| R | Clear the table and randomize the 1-9 balls. |
| Ctrl-r | Clear the table and randomize all 15 balls. |
| 0 - 9 | Keyboard 0 adds a Cue ball. Keyboard 1-9 toggles the 1-9 ball. |
| Ctrl-(0-5) | Keyboard Ctrl-0 toggles the 10 ball, etc. |
System Shortcuts
System functions are useful shortcuts mostly for maintenance operations on the ICATS.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| ? | Displays the full and most recent list of shortcut keys. |
| U | Forces an update of the ICATS Program, and downloads new content. You may occasionally be asked by ICA to update using U, but under normal circumstances, using the menus Settings/Update is the preferred and faster method. |
| Q | Quit the ICATS program, displaying the Linux Desktop. To relaunch the ICATS program, Double-Left-Click on the ICA Pool icon. |
| b | Blank the projector, turning off display of all ICA elements. Pressing another key restores the display. |
| F | Add/Remove from the Favorites folder. If the drill was loaded from a folder other than Favorites, F will add that Drill to Favorites. If the drill was loaded from Favorites, pressing F will remove it from Favorites. |
