Pattern Breakdown is a feature of the ICA Training System (ICATS) designed to teach structured run-outs.
A run-out requires multiple sequential shots with controlled cue ball position. The margin for error is small. Poor leaves end the run.
Pattern Breakdown isolates each shot in sequence and guides you through the run-out one step at a time.
The system uses the Pattern Ball (PBall), a hybrid of a Cue Ball (CBall) and an Aiming Ball (ABall). The PBall:

- Indicates tip position
- Indicates stroke speed
- Is four ball-diameters in size
- Defines the intended leave zone for the next shot
Any drill containing numbered PBalls can be processed as a Pattern Breakdown drill.
Professionally designed Pattern Breakdown modules are available. You may also create your own.
