Can't a projector be mounted directly above the center of the table?

The usual position for a Vertical or Side mount projector is about 6" away from the side pocket, not over the table center. Vertical mounting (lens pointing straight down) is a special-application option and requires a projector whose manufacturer explicitly approves that orientation.
